The HS Code Decides Your Duty, Not Your Invoice

Kuwait customs assesses duty on the GCC tariff code you declare, not on what you call the product. Classify before you book to avoid holds and surprise duty.

Two importers bring in the same product. One pays the duty they expected. The other gets a hold, a re-inspection, and a duty bill well above what they quoted their customer.

Same cargo. Different HS code.

The tariff code, not the invoice, sets the rate

Kuwait customs assesses duty on the GCC 12-digit tariff code you declare on the Bayan — not on what you call the product on your commercial invoice. Get the classification wrong and two things happen: the system flags a mismatch against the declared commodity, and your goods sit while it's resolved.

"Machine parts" is not a tariff code. Neither is "assorted goods." A vague description is an invitation to a query — and a query is time your container spends at the quay instead of at your warehouse.

The fix costs nothing and happens before you book

Classify the product to its correct heading, confirm the duty rate that heading carries, and put that number into the landed cost you quote your customer. No surprises at the Bayan.

We classify before we quote — so you see the real duty before the container leaves origin, not after it lands.

Not sure of your HS code? Send us the product and we'll classify it and quote the landed cost. Chat on WhatsApp.
