Getting started

First-time importer questions and how onboarding works.

How do I get a quote?
Send us the lane (origin city → Kuwait), mode (air/sea/door), weight in kg, volume in CBM if you have it, and what you're shipping. WhatsApp, email or the form on our homepage all work. You'll have a written quote in under an hour during business hours.
Do I need to have a CR (commercial registration) to ship with you?
For commercial shipments cleared in Kuwait, yes — Kuwait customs requires an importer of record with a valid CR. If you don't have one yet, we can advise on the right structure and, in some cases, clear under our partner network for an additional fee. Personal shipments under specific thresholds are handled differently.
What documents do I need to give you?
For a quote, nothing — just the basic shipment details. To book and clear: commercial invoice, packing list, supplier details, and your CR copy. For regulated goods (food, cosmetics, electronics) we'll tell you what extra certificates are needed.
Can I ship as an individual, not a company?
Yes for personal effects and small quantities. Customs treats personal imports differently — duty thresholds and quantity limits apply. We'll let you know if your shipment looks like it should be commercial instead.
How long does onboarding take?
From first message to first shipment booked: usually same day. We don't gate quotes behind paperwork — we quote first, then collect what we need to actually book the load.

Pricing & billing

How we price, what you pay, when you pay it.

Are your published rates the final price?
The rates on the pricing page are indicative — they cover freight, basic origin handling and Kuwait clearance for standard cargo. Customs duty, VAT (where applicable), agency certificates and special handling are quoted on top. Every shipment gets a written, all-in quote before you commit.
What's chargeable weight?
For air freight, you're billed on the higher of actual weight or volumetric weight. Volumetric is L × W × H (cm) ÷ 5000. So a big-but-light shipment like cushions might be priced on volume, not the scale weight. We'll always show you both numbers on the quote.
Do you accept KWD, USD or both?
Both. KWD is our default — every quote shows KWD. We can invoice in USD on request, at the prevailing market rate plus a small conversion margin we'll disclose upfront.
When do I pay — before or after shipping?
First shipment is prepay. After three on-time deliveries we offer Net-15 or Net-30 terms subject to a quick review. Customs duty/VAT settlement is always prefunded into our holding account before clearance — those are paid to government, not to us.
Are there hidden fees? Demurrage, fuel, security?
Fuel surcharge is built into our published rates (currently around 18%, tracked monthly). Security and screening are included for standard cargo. Demurrage and storage at port only kick in if your cargo sits past free time waiting on documents — we'll warn you well before that becomes a risk.
Do you offer volume discounts?
Yes — committed monthly volume gets a custom rate sheet. If you're shipping 5+ tonnes a month or 2+ FCL containers, ask us for an annual contract.

Shipping & transit

Lanes, modes and how long it actually takes.

Which countries do you cover?
120+ countries inbound and outbound across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, MENA, GCC, Africa and Latin America. We also handle cross-trade (third-country to third-country) where Kuwait isn't on either end of the move. If your origin or destination isn't on a public list anywhere, ask us anyway — we very likely already move it through partners.
How fast is air vs sea?
Air freight is typically 3–9 days door-to-door depending on origin and customs windows. Sea is anywhere from 7 days for short-haul GCC up to 40+ days for long-haul Asia-Pacific. Road haul within the GCC is 3–7 days. Door-to-door courier sits between air and road, typically 4–9 days for sub-30 kg parcels. We give exact ranges per lane on the written quote.
Can you mix air and sea on the same purchase order?
Yes. Common pattern: ship the urgent SKUs by air for the launch, the rest by sea to land two weeks later. We can split the consignment at origin and you'll get two quotes, one shipment file.
What's the minimum shipment size?
No minimum — we'll move a single envelope by courier if that's what you need. For sea LCL the most economic point usually starts around 1 CBM; below that, air is often cheaper.
Can you handle hazardous goods, lithium batteries, perishables?
Lithium batteries (PI 965/966/967, 970/967/969) — yes, with proper UN packaging and MSDS. Hazardous goods (DG class 1–9) — case by case, and only with full documentation. Perishables — yes by air with temperature-controlled handling at KWI on request.
My supplier is in a city you don't list. Can you still pick up?
Almost certainly yes. The cities we name on lane pages are consolidation hubs; we run inland trucking from anywhere in the country into them. There may be an inland line item on the quote, but it's part of the all-in number — no separate vendor for you to manage.

Customs & duties

What you pay to government, and how we handle the paperwork.

How much customs duty will I pay?
Kuwait's baseline import duty is 5% of CIF value (cost + insurance + freight). Some categories (tobacco, alcohol-restricted goods) are higher; some GCC-origin goods are duty-free. We pre-calculate this on your quote so there are no surprises at clearance.
Is my supplier's CIF freight price fair, or am I being overcharged?
Most Kuwait SME importers buying CIF from China, India, or Turkey pay 8–22% above the actual freight forwarder rate — the markup is baked into the supplier's "freight + insurance" line. To detect it: ask the supplier for the FOB price for the same shipment, then compare the gap against a Kuwait freight forwarder's direct quote. Try our free CIF vs FOB calculator to see the math in 30 seconds, or send us the supplier's invoice for a real benchmark.
Is there VAT on imports into Kuwait?
Kuwait does not currently apply VAT on imports (as of this writing). If that changes, every quote we issue will show the applicable rate clearly.
Do I need a special permit for my product?
Depends on the product. Food and supplements need PAAFR; cosmetics, medical and pharma need MoH; electronics need MoCI conformity. Send us a product photo and HS code and we'll tell you within an hour if a permit is required.
What if customs disputes the HS code or value I declared?
We represent you. Most disputes are resolved in 24–48 hours with the right supporting docs. If it goes to physical inspection or valuation review, we attend on your behalf and update you in real time.
Do you register me in Mirsal-2?
We file declarations under your importer profile in Mirsal-2. If you don't have a Mirsal-2 importer file yet, we'll guide you through the registration — it's a one-time setup with Kuwait General Administration of Customs.

Tracking & delivery

Where your shipment is, and when it'll land.

How do I track my shipment?
Each booking gets a Qaf Xpress reference (e.g. QX-2026-00123). Drop it into our tracking page for the live milestone view, or just ask us on WhatsApp and we'll send a screenshot.
Will I get notified at each milestone?
Yes — by WhatsApp by default. Picked up, departed, arrived port/airport, customs cleared, out for delivery, delivered. You can opt for email-only or both.
Do you deliver anywhere in Kuwait?
Yes — Kuwait City, Hawalli, Farwaniya, Mubarak Al-Kabeer, Ahmadi, Jahra, plus all the industrial areas (Shuwaikh, Sabhan, Mina Abdullah). For project sites or remote yards, we'll quote the trucking separately.
Can I pick up from your warehouse instead?
Yes — we'll knock the inland delivery off the quote. We'll let you know when the cargo is ready for collection at our Shuwaikh facility.
What happens if I'm not available to receive?
We'll reschedule once at no charge. After that, we may need to return to warehouse and a re-delivery fee applies. Let us know in advance if you need a specific window.

Returns & damages

When something goes wrong, here's what we do.

My cargo arrived damaged. What now?
Photograph it before you unpack further, note it on the delivery POD, and send everything to us within 48 hours. We open a claim with the carrier and our cargo insurer (if cover was bought) and walk you through the documentation. Recovery is faster the earlier we know.
Do I need cargo insurance?
It's optional but strongly recommended for shipments over KWD 1,000. Carrier liability is capped low (around USD 20/kg for air, USD 500/package for sea), so for valuable cargo, the insurance gap matters. Premium is typically 0.3–0.5% of declared value.
Can you return goods to my supplier?
Yes — we handle reverse freight, including the export clearance from Kuwait and reimport into the origin country. Note that origin-side duties may apply on the return depending on the supplier's setup.
My supplier shipped the wrong goods. Can I refuse delivery?
Don't refuse at port — that triggers demurrage and storage immediately. Take delivery, document the discrepancy, and we'll handle the return separately. Refusing customs-cleared cargo creates a much bigger problem than accepting and returning.
What's your service guarantee?
We commit to: a written quote within 1 business hour, milestone updates within 6 hours of carrier movement, and a named human handling your file end-to-end. If we miss any of those on a shipment, the brokerage fee for that shipment is on us.
Last-mile delivery

Delivering for your store across Kuwait

Common questions from e-commerce sellers using our last-mile service. See the full service page or estimate your cost.

What does it cost?
From KWD 1.250 per successful drop on the pay-as-you-go Starter tier. The Growth tier (50–500 drops/month) is KWD 1.000 per drop. Enterprise (500+) starts at KWD 0.750. Everything is included: COD collection, POD photo, customer SMS, one retry, weekly reconciliation. Use the calculator for exact numbers.
Which areas do you cover?
All six governorates: Capital, Hawalli, Farwaniya, Ahmadi, Jahra and Mubarak Al-Kabeer. Every block, every street. If a customer's address is sparse, the portal flags it before dispatch so you ask once instead of the driver calling on the doorstep.
How does COD reconciliation work?
Drivers count cash at the door and mark it against your order ID. Finance verifies daily. Every Sunday you receive a statement: every collection, every failure, total owed, bank transfer reference. Funds land within 48 hours of the statement.
Do I need to integrate with Shopify, WooCommerce, Salla?
No. CSV in is enough to start — order ID, customer name, phone, address, governorate, COD amount. Enterprise customers can wire up API + webhooks to push jobs straight from their stack and receive real-time status updates back.
What happens if a delivery fails?
Driver records a reason code (wrong number, refused, address not found, recipient absent). Three options follow: re-attempt next day (free on Growth and Enterprise), return to sender (KWD 0.500 flat), or reschedule via the portal.
How do I see what's happening with my parcels?
Sign in to your customer portal — every order updates in real time. Photo of the parcel at the door, recipient signature or name, GPS coordinate, exact timestamp. End customers receive their own SMS with a tracking link the moment we're on the way.
